TELEKOM
CGI Fire for TELEKOM
I had the pleasure of working with the talented team at Sehsucht Hamburg on this exciting project.
My task was to create a realistic looking fire on a bus. The brief was that the flames should appear only at the back of the bus and look like they were caused by a Molotov cocktail.
After researching how fire behaves when fueled by alcohol and looking at real Molotov cocktail references, I had a clear idea of the direction I wanted to take.
When alcohol burns, it produces very little smoke because it burns cleanly compared to materials like wood or paper. Still, we added a small amount of smoke because fire interacting with smoke often looks better on camera than fire on its own.
For shots like this, it's best to simulate everything in place and then match the animation to the moving bus in post. This makes it easier to iterate quickly due to short sim times, which helps save a lot of time during production.
Rivella
Rivella
A fresh and colorful project
For this project I collaborated with the team at Recom Stuttgart to bring this Rivella ad to life.
My tasks included supporting the team with look development for the bottles in the still images and then applying that same look to the final animation.
From creating ice cubes and simulating liquid to developing the final look of the bottles, I was involved in nearly every aspect of the project.
The most challenging part was creating a liquid simulation that behaved naturally but still looked visually appealing. It also had to hit the ice cubes without spilling out of the glass, so I spent quite a bit of time adjusting drag and surface tension to keep the splashes under control.
